wilson residence

Showing that contemporary architecture is at home in the suburbs, this renovation and addition nearly doubled the size of this home for a young couple and their children. The stucco-clad structure sits along side a hill with views out above the neighboring properties. Compositionally the house consists of two volumes that incase the original brick structure.

Open floor plans transform the former collection of independent rooms into light filled volumes of space. The new kitchen was inserted into the center of the house and acts as the hub for entertainment and daily family life. A steel and glass open stair connects the spaces vertically. The living areas and master bedroom take advantage of southern exposure. A combination of distinctly contemporary details with a warm color palette makes for a modern yet comfortable home.
